Market Research
In conducting market research for this project, I thoroughly analyzed popular platforms such as Clubhouse and Google Meet to glean valuable insights. What I learned was:
Audio first vs Video format
Clubhouse's focus on live audio conversations, similar to Google Meet's video conferencing, promotes real-time interaction among users. This facet enhances your project's aim of fostering engagement and meaningful discussions within communities.
Exclusivity with Invitations
Clubhouse initially employed an invitation-only approach, similar to Google Meet's exclusive corporate use. These strategies highlighted the exclusivity of your project, potentially driving curiosity and demand.
Community Building
Both Clubhouse and Google Meet facilitate community building in different ways. Clubhouse encourages users to create and join audio rooms based on shared interests, while Google Meet supports collaborative meetings. Combining these approaches could enrich your project's community-building capabilities.
Moderation tools
Clubhouse's room hosts can moderate conversations, mirroring Google Meet's administrative controls. Implementing robust moderation features could help maintain a respectful and productive environment within your project's communities.
Monetization
Clubhouse introduced monetization features for content creators, akin to your project's goal of rewarding users with experience levels. Combining these elements could motivate users to actively participate in communities and events.
Pre Design Planning
Understanding our users
We delved into the strategic implementation of user roles, highlighting their pivotal role in fostering community engagement and effective platform management. The three primary user roles—Admins, Moderators, and Room Joinees—contribute to a thriving ecosystem where meaningful discussions and connections flourish.
Admin Responsibilities:
Room Creation: Admins wield the authority to create rooms, curating diverse topics and settings.
User Management: Admins invite, manage, and oversee users, shaping the character of communities.
Content Oversight: Admins monitor room content, ensuring alignment with platform guidelines.
Rule Establishment: Admins enforce rules within rooms to maintain order and civility.
Platform Management: Admins oversee the platform's functionality, ensuring seamless operation.
Moderator Responsibilities:
Assist Admins: Moderators support Admins in managing rooms, promoting rule adherence, and enhancing user experience.
Content Monitoring: Moderators proactively monitor discussions, guaranteeing they remain respectful and on-topic.
Conflict Resolution: Moderators de-escalate conflicts, maintaining a harmonious atmosphere within rooms.
User Support: Moderators assist users, offering guidance on platform features and etiquette.
Reporting: Moderators report issues and provide valuable input to Admins for decision-making.
Room Joinee Duties:
Participation: Room Joinees actively engage in discussions, contributing their unique perspectives and expertise.
Rule Adherence: Room Joinees respect room rules to ensure a positive environment for all participants.
Community Building: Room Joinees play a pivotal role in building vibrant communities, fueling discussions with their insights.
Reporting: Room Joinees report disruptive behavior or content violations, maintaining the platform's integrity.
Profile Management: Room Joinees personalize their profiles, showcasing their interests and affiliations, facilitating connections with like-minded individuals.
Creating flows for these users:
Joining Flow
When the user joins the platform for the first time they need to be told about the aspects of the platform which might be taking data from them for them to plan out how they are sending that information to others. Things like microphone switching and camera switching are given on the joining page to make sure that before the user joins the page they are completely clear with how they appear to others on the platform.
Joining Flow
The platform has two sections on the left, the bottom side is more information-heavy and we wanted to make sure the certain users that plan to see that information are able to access it with ease and can see more data as soon as they scroll. An interaction was planned for the same to reduce the size of the top half to incorporate more data in the bottom half.
Polls Appearing
We designed an interactive animation for active polls that ensures a seamless user experience on both mobile and desktop. A subtle bottom sheet appears on mobile, and an unobtrusive box pops up in the top-right corner on desktop, allowing easy access to polls without disruption. This feature encourages user engagement and enhances the platform experience, making poll participation effortless and visually appealing.
